NaBITA ACTIVITIES UPDATE
-
NaBITA
now has more than 180 institutional members, with over 875
participating individuals from those institutions. The March and
April membership drives doubled our membership base. Welcome new
members, and thanks to all our members for helping to spread the
word. The success of the membership drive has prompted us to
revise our membership categories to align with the discounted membership
drive pricing. Details are below, one highlight of which is a new
Individual Membership category. We receive frequent requests for
individual memberships, and have shifted the member categories to
accommodate both team and individual members.
-
With our growth,
NaBITA is no longer able to host our annual conference on a college
campus. As a result, the 2011 NaBITA conference will be hosted at a
lovely resort hotel. For those of you who weren't thrilled with
the hotel-to-campus shuttles last year, our new site will be a
revelation. Sunny Florida in December? You won't want to
miss this. Did we say how lovely this place is?
Conference Coordinator Samantha Dutill made a site visit last month, and
we weren't sure she was ever going to come back. You really have
to check it out. It has its own private island. Details are
below.
-
NaBITA is now an
independent association. As you know, NaBITA was started by the
law and consulting firm NCHERM with a goal to achieve financial
independence within three years or 300 institutional members, whichever
came first. While the 300 institutional member goal has not yet
been met, NaBITA's very successful Campus Threat Manager Certification
Institute provided additional revenue that was unanticipated in the
original financial planning, enabling NaBITA to become independent ahead
of the three-year schedule. NaBITA is now incorporated as a PA
not-for-profit organization, with complete corporate and financial
independence from NCHERM. NCHERM will continue to provide office
space, shared staff and planning resources as needed.
Member benefits have expanded,
dramatically. Based on requests from members for more team
support materials, we have greatly expanded the offerings of each
membership category, and will continue to do so annually. At
present, please find the following available in each membership category:
Enhanced-level members -- 130 protocols, sample policies, templates, training tools, articles, materials & the BIT KIT
Standard-level members -- 100 protocols, sample policies, templates, training tools, articles, and materials
Basic-level members -- 45 protocols, training tools, articles, and materials

NaBITA Staff Roster:
NEW MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES AND PRICING
Effective immediately, NaBITA's membership categories have changed in type and pricing, as follows:
Basic
Membership is no longer available. Current Basic members will
need to transition to other membership categories when their membership
year expires.
Current
Standard and Enhanced members who paid higher rates will benefit from
the reduced rates at the time of their renewal. To compensate
Standard and Enhanced members who have paid more for a category that
will cost less for new members, Standard and Enhanced members will
receive a one-time, three-month membership extension of their current
membership year, equivalent in value to the 20% membership category
price cuts. This 3-month extension will be automatically applied to your existing membership.
NaBITA 2011 CONFERENCE SITE SELECTED

HYATT REGENCY COCONUT POINT RESORT AND SPA
While we had
anticipated making New Orleans a permanent home for the NaBITA annual
conference, the schedule of Saints' home games doubled the price of
hotel rooms in New Orleans during the week scheduled for the
conference. Rather than pass that cost along to our members, our
Conference Committee performed due diligence to identify a site that you
are going to love. The Hyatt Coconut Point Resort in Bonita
Springs, Florida, is a lovely (did we say that already?) and
extraordinary resort (private island with beach!) setting for the 2011
conference. Room rates are reasonable, travel in and out of Ft.
Myers' airport (RSW) is convenient and airfares are excellent. Not
only can this resort comfortably accommodate our conference needs, but
you will find the amenities will dramatically enhance your conference
experience. These include:
- Private island beach
- Stillwater Spa
- Waterfall pool deck
- Golf
- Tennis
- Hotel Trolley
- Boardwalk
- Two Waterslides
- Marina
- Dolphins!
