Emily C. Babb, J.D.

Emily Babb is the Associate Vice President for Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance/Title IX Coordinator at Northwestern University where she leads the office responsible for responding to all forms of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation involving students, faculty, and staff with broad responsibility for compliance with Title IX, Title VI, and other federal, state, and local civil rights laws. Prior to joining Northwestern Emily served in a similar role at the University of Denver, where she led the restructured comprehensive Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX. Emily also served as the Assistant Vice President for Title IX Compliance at the University of Virginia and while at the University of Virginia also served as the Interim Associate Vice President for Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights, leading the team responsible for the University’s broad civil rights compliance. Before her roles in higher education, Emily worked for more than 10 years in the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights where she was a Senior Attorney at the Dallas Regional office and the Program Manager and Acting Regional Director at the Cleveland Regional office. She is a graduate of DePauw University and earned her J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
