Angela M. Catena, PhD (she/her), is the Director of Title IX Compliance and Title IX Coordinator at Virginia Tech, where she leads institutional efforts to address and prevent sex-based discrimination and sexual misconduct. She oversees all aspects of Title IX compliance, including investigations, policy development, education, and support services, ensuring a coordinated and equity-centered approach across the university.
With over 13 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Catena has held progressive leadership roles focused on civil rights, gender-based violence prevention, and campus safety. She previously served as the Title IX Coordinator at the University of New Mexico, where she led the institution through a successful federal compliance review and implemented system-wide structures to promote accountability and effective response. Her work is rooted in trauma-informed, data-driven, and inclusive practices that drive lasting institutional change.
