Fraternities and sororities, academic honoraria, and sports clubs all have one thing in common. They, along with all other student organizations, create institutional risk. A structure that helps these organizations monitor their risk is highly beneficial. Some colleges have well-developed systems in place while others do not or are developing ways to help student organizations manage risk. This session is a primer on how to craft such a system and the necessary components to make it successful. Regardless of the size or type of organization, this session is designed for student organization leaders, on and off-campus advisors, and other campus administrators who work with student organizations.
Learning outcomes:
- By the end of the session, participants will be able to explain the importance of risk management for student organizations
- By the end of the session, participants will be able to identify potential risks to their organizations
- By the end of the session, participants will be able to develop strategies for mitigating risk
