Given the heartbreaking tragedy in Texas, The White House and Congress have begun in earnest the discussion of a comprehensive school safety bill, and the lead negotiators have put out a call to all Congressional offices asking for input and suggestions to help craft the new bill. NABITA is working to help support Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) with the “inside baseball” element to have the BIG Act included in the final package. Now more than ever, NABITA needs the assistance of its membership by reaching out to their home state Senators and asking that they support the BIG Act (S. 1383). If we can grow the co-sponsor list for BIG Act, it will strengthen Sen. Cornyn’s hand in having the BIG Act included in any school safety bill that is crafted over the next few months.
