Dr. Colleen Sonnentag serves as the Assistant Vice President & Dean of Students at the University of Northern Colorado. With more than 15 years of experience in student conduct, case management, crisis response, residence life, and Title IX/civil rights investigations, she provides strategic leadership across the Division of Student Affairs and chairs UNC’s CARE (Concern and Respond Effectively) Team. In this role, she oversees cross-functional behavioral intervention and risk/threat assessment efforts to support student and community well-being.
Dr. Sonnentag is a Certified Workplace Mediator and Trainer in Conflict Resolution through the Mediation Training Institute. She has presented at multiple national conferences on how institutions can effectively respond to student needs and concerns. Dr. Sonnentag’s research has been recognized nationally; in 2020, she received the Association for Student Conduct Administration’s Dissertation of the Year Award for her work on sexual assault adjudication in higher education.
