Dawn Meza Soufleris, Ph.D.

Dr. Dawn Meza Soufleris is the Vice President for Student Development and Campus Life at Montclair State University, an HSI/MSI public institution in New Jersey serving nearly 24,000 students. She joined Montclair in April 2021 after serving as Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at La Salle University in Philadelphia. Dr. Soufleris holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University at Buffalo and brings 33 years of experience in higher education, with a focus on college student development. A proud first-generation Latina college graduate and the only member of her extended family to earn a doctoral degree, Dr. Soufleris leads a division that spans both the Montclair and Bloomfield College campuses. Her areas of expertise include Title IX, generational theory, first-generation student success, and student engagement. Known as “Dr. S” to her students, she is a committed educator, currently teaching in Montclair’s Higher Education Graduate Program, and served on NASPA’s James E. Scott Academy Board for 2 years and now is a member of the Region II Advisory Board for NASPA. She recently directed and taught in NASPA’s New VPSA Institute.
