Sarah M. Daniels, Ph.D.

Sarah M. Daniels, Ph.D., is responsible for strategic leadership of critical incident response and student support in the Dean of Students Office at the University of Michigan. She leads a team of staff members who provide direct support, resources, and referrals to students who are experiencing life events that are affecting their ability to be successful at the university. Through the development of student-centered systems, structures, and policies, Daniels leads a comprehensive approach to non-clinical case management, critical incident response, and student support. She chairs the Dean’s Behavioral Intervention Team (DBIT) and manages the Emergency Health Withdrawal and Re-enrollment Policy. Daniels also has responsibility for other student affairs programs and initiatives within the Dean of Students Office.

Daniels’ career in student affairs spans approximately 25 years and has included work in Dean of Students offices, behavioral intervention and case management, student conduct, residence life, summer conferences, and office administration. Prior to starting at the University of Michigan in 2012, Daniels worked at The George Washington University and The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Daniels earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with a focus on Higher Education from Eastern Michigan University in 2023.
