Hiring decisions directly affect an institution’s ability to maintain strong civil rights compliance and effective behavioral intervention systems. This session explores how thoughtful hiring practices can help institutions build a workforce that supports fairness, compliance, and coordinated response systems led by Title IX, civil rights, and Behavioral Intervention/Threat Assessment and Management (BIT/BTAM) teams.
Participants will explore how structured hiring practices, including position description development, recruitment strategies, screening processes, interview protocols, and reference checks, can strengthen institutional capacity for fair policy implementation, documentation, and coordinated response practices. Because many BIT/BTAM members and campus response partners are selected from existing staff and faculty roles, recruitment practices directly shape the pool of professionals who may later assume responsibilities such as threat assessment, case management, report intake, prevention planning, and coordinated responses to behavioral or civil rights concerns.
