This two-day certification course teaches NABITA’s 21 Standards for Behavioral Intervention Teams, which offer industry-leading best practices for effective BIT/TAT/CARE teams. Whether building a team or refining an existing one, this course will improve team performance based on NABITA’s standard operating procedures and protocols.
Discover the methodology behind defining a BIT/CARE/TAT team and team structure, including who should be on the team and what types of concerns the team should respond to. Participants will learn how to implement NABITA’s Risk Rubric for objective referrals, apply mandated assessments, and administer thorough interventions. Further insights will be offered into developing strategies for marketing and advertising the team. NABITA faculty members draw from their years of expertise, research, and literature in threat assessment, psychology, and law enforcement.
Attendees will benefit from interactive case studies and ample time for discussion, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of both the foundational and advanced aspects of effective BIT/TAT/CARE team operations. Our faculty members recognize that each process, team, and school is unique. The NABITA Standards for Behavioral Intervention Teams present a flexible framework for building a team that meets the institution’s needs. Participants will learn how to apply the standards within unique contexts.
Pre-tests, Post-test, and Verification (Coming in 2026)
NABITA offers training participants an opportunity to complete a short pre-test and post-test to help gauge participant knowledge attainment. Your score on the pre-test has no bearing on whether you will receive certification for this course. Because of that we strongly encourage you to take this pre-test on your own, closed book, and prior to reviewing the course materials.
The optional pre-test is available from the time the event lobby opens until the training’s start time. NABITA staff are unable to manually reopen the pre-test after that time. If you are interested in completing the pre-test, we encourage you to be sure to do so prior to the training start time.
Post-tests are strongly encouraged and are available for the three months of your event lobby access. NABITA staff are unable to manually reopen the post-test after that time. Post-tests can be taken open book until you pass and then result in a Verified Certification of Completion. For those who choose to opt out of this demonstration of knowledge, you will receive certification of attendance. Post-tests are are available through your event lobby for 90 days after the conclusion of your training.
In this course, you will learn:
- How to create, improve, and maximize BIT procedures in accordance with the NABITA Standards for Behavioral Intervention Teams

Who should attend?
- Schools seeking to bring their team in line with NABITA’s standards of practice

To obtain certification from NABITA, you will need to sign-in to your Event Lobby each day of training and attend the whole event. It is our expectation that you are present for the entire duration of your training course. Certification will only be provided once NABITA have verified attendance through the Event Lobby.

Please follow the instructions on the webpage to obtain your certification. Our CCC program allows those certified by NABITA to track, maintain, and extend their professional development through our programs.
