Alecia Chenault, M.Ed., MPH

Alecia Chenault serves as a Senior Student Care Officer at Western Governors University (WGU) and is the founding and current Chair of the university’s Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). With more than 15 years of experience in higher education, she has dedicated her career to developing innovative, student-centered programs that promote safety, wellbeing, success, and belonging. A Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Alecia’s professional training encompasses the full continuum of student wellbeing and safety, including prevention and health promotion, behavioral intervention, threat assessment, crisis response, and multidisciplinary case management. Prior to joining WGU, she designed and implemented wellbeing initiatives across a diverse range of higher education settings, including private and public universities of varying sizes. At WGU, she has provided leadership for the development of the Crisis and Critical Need Program, the Behavioral Intervention Team, and a growing portfolio of Student Wellbeing Services, focusing on collaborative systems of care tailored to the unique needs of a large, fully online university. Her experience building and operationalizing wellbeing programs from the ground up, combined with her ability to foster collaboration across institutional and external partners, reflects her deep commitment to advancing equitable systems that help students thrive both personally and academically.
