Michelle Jungbauer, RN, MBA HCM

Michelle Jungbauer serves as Senior Manager of Student Wellbeing at Western Governors University (WGU), where she provides strategic leadership for student support, crisis response, behavioral intervention, and wellbeing initiatives serving a nationwide online student population. Since joining WGU in 2011, she has held a variety of roles across academics, student success, and student wellbeing, drawing on her diverse background in healthcare, education, and business management. Throughout her tenure, Michelle has led the development and expansion of key student support programs, including the Environmental Barrier Program, Crisis and Critical Need Program, Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), and WGU’s Student Parent Initiative. Michelle is a career nurse, educator, and people leader dedicated to developing a robust online community of care for students and faculty by combining technology with the best in human compassion and ingenuity. Through her leadership, WGU has strengthened cross-functional partnerships, risk assessment practices, intervention pathways, and coordinated case response processes that support students experiencing academic, behavioral, emotional, and safety concerns. Michelle is passionate about combining technology with human compassion to create collaborative, student-centered support systems that promote wellbeing, resilience, and student success.
