Ann Ciancia currently serves as the Senior Director of Civil Rights Compliance and Title IX and VI Coordinator at Union College (NY) where she leads campus initiatives to combat discrimination, harassment, and sexual and gender-based misconduct. Ann works closely with student organizations, human resources, academic affairs, student affairs, and external organizations to host events bringing awareness and educating the community about civil rights and sexual misconduct. In her role, she oversees the civil rights processes and procedures for all members of the college campus.
Prior to her current role, Ann served as the Director of Contracts and Compliance and Title IX Coordinator at Utica University. In this capacity, she oversaw institutional compliance, risk mitigation, and legal affairs. Additionally, she was an Adjunct Lecturer of Management and taught undergraduate courses in Sports Law, Business Law, and Criminal Justice.
Prior to her career in higher education, Ann clerked for the Honorable Honora O’Brien-Kilgallen in New Jersey. During her clerkship, Ann worked on the family abuse and neglect and domestic violence docket, where she assisted with writing decisions and successfully mediated custody and parenting agreements.
Most recently, Ann received her human resources certification from SHRM. Ms. Ciancia received her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 2021 while concurrently completing her MBA from Utica University. During her graduate career, Ann externed at a legal aid society, a law firm focused on civil rights, and a domestic violence non-profit organization. Ann received her undergraduate degrees in health studies, philosophy, and Spanish from Utica University.
