Joseph C. Alfe, J.D., LL.M., CCEP, is Director of Title IX & Civil Rights Compliance at Lake Forest College, a small private liberal arts institution serving 2,000 students, overseeing compliance with Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA/Section 504, Clery Act reporting, and related civil rights obligations. He manages case intake, investigations, adjudication, policy development, training, and risk assessment in a resource-constrained small-institution environment. Previously, Joseph was the Informal Resolution Facilitator & Mediator for the nation’s largest university campus, Texas A & M University, with more than 80,0000 students enrolled. With advanced legal credentials and CCEP certification, Joseph has more than a decade of higher education compliance experience, including piloting AI-assisted tools for case summarization, timeline construction, interview analysis, and report drafting while prioritizing ethical use, bias mitigation, data privacy (FERPA), and regulatory defensibility. He emphasizes practical innovation for stretched administrators at small colleges. Joseph earned his Juris Doctor from the UIC School of Law – Formerly known as the John Marshall Law School, in Chicago, Illinois. He has earned a Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from the #1 Ranked Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, Malibu, California.
