This training introduces the challenges K-12 schools face in addressing threats, risks, and concerning behavior that surface on social media platforms. By examining the digital spaces where students communicate, it highlights why online activity can significantly impact school safety, student well-being, and community trust. The session reviews current platforms, emerging trends, and real-world examples to build awareness of how quickly online behaviors can escalate into more significant concerns. Viewers will gain a foundational understanding of the social media landscape as a first step toward developing effective response strategies, which will be explored further in Part 2.
