Courtney Wilson, Ph. D, MSW

Dr. Courtney J. Wilson is a licensed clinical social worker in Florida whose career spans community mental health, hospital psychiatric social work, and academia. Courtney serves as the Manager of the Crisis and Critical Needs program at WGU, where he leads efforts to support students experiencing crisis situations, significant life disruptions, and complex barriers that may impact their safety, wellbeing, and academic success. He has served as an Associate Clinical Professor at Florida International University, where his

funded research included principal investigator on a $200,648 Florida Institute for Child Welfare grant and co-investigator on a $1.39 million Florida Department of Health evaluation of a racial and ethnic health disparities program. Earlier he was a co-investigator on the Parramore Healthy Community Coalition, a $600,000 Florida Blue project in downtown Orlando. In his work related to the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), Courtney brings expertise in crisis intervention, case management, risk assessment, care coordination, and the implementation of holistic student support strategies. Dr. Wilson brings clinical expertise in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and behavioral risk identification, strengthening WGUs ability to assess complex student situations, develop appropriate intervention strategies, and promote both student safety and wellbeing.
