Dr. Freda Grant is a civil rights compliance professional, scholar, educator, and founder of Grant Equity Consulting, a consulting practice focused on helping institutions navigate civil rights compliance through an equity-centered and culturally responsive lens. Her expertise spans Title IX, pregnancy and parenting students, reproductive justice, gender-based violence, discriminatory harassment, ADA/504 compliance, and institutional equity.
Dr. Grant holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and a master’s degree in Women’s & Gender Studies. A Black feminist scholar whose work bridges public policy, sociology, and gender studies, she examines how institutional policies and practices shape the experiences and educational persistence of Black women and other historically marginalized communities.
Her “We Stayed Enrolled” initiative brings reproductive justice and Title IX compliance into conversation, examining what it actually takes for pregnant and parenting students to remain enrolled, supported, and able to thrive. Her approach asks institutions to consider not only whether protections exist on paper, but whether students can meaningfully access those protections when they need them most.
Through Grant Equity Consulting, Dr. Grant translates scholarship and compliance expertise into practical strategies for institutions seeking to strengthen their policies, practices, investigations, training, and equity infrastructure.
