This course focuses on challenges often encountered following the violence risk assessment.

From managing affective, emotionally driven violence to responding to potential targeted or predatory violence, the presenters will discuss strategies for mitigating risk and increasing safety related to individuals who remain at the institution with a significant risk profile.

Relying on case studies, this course will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of how to engage with a student following a violence risk assessment to reduce their risk, increase their protective factors, and enhance their ability to remain a safe member of the campus community. Presenters will discuss non-clinical interventions such as working with a case manager, employing progressive sanctions through the conduct process, and engaging student affairs professionals as support resources, as well as clinical strategies such as connecting the student with clinical treatment providers.

  • Learn specific strategies for decreasing risk factors and increasing protective factors for at risk individuals
  • Discuss how to engage various stakeholders and resources in the risk management process.

To obtain certification from NABITA, you will need to sign-in to your Event Lobby each day of training and attend the whole event. It is our expectation that you are present for the entire duration of your training course. Certification will only be provided once NABITA have verified attendance through the Event Lobby.

Please allow 7-10 days following the completion of the course and then log in on our website and visit the My NABITA page to access the Continuing Certification Credit (CCC) program system. Please follow the instructions on the webpage to obtain your certification. Our CCC program allows those certified by NABITA to track, maintain, and extend their professional development through our programs.
