The Non-Clinical Assessment of Suicide (NAS) tool helps non-clinically trained professionals conduct structured, preliminary suicide risk assessments. It promotes consistency, reduces bias, and supports institutional documentation. While NAS is not a substitute for a clinical assessment by a licensed mental health professional, it gives Behavioral Intervention Teams and other campus, K-12, and workplace professionals a practical framework for assessing risk, guiding interventions, and making appropriate referrals.
This session will cover what’s changed in the latest version of NAS, why those updates matter, and how teams can use the revised tool to improve consistency in suicide risk assessments, intervention decisions, and documentation.
